I’ll Keep This Land Safe for Your Return

Meditating on my ancestral relationship to land and all my lineage had to go through to my current struggles today regarding private property/being a tenant and constantly facing precarity. I heard someone say, “Colonizers wouldn’t treat the land the way that they do if it was actually theirs,” and I’ve been meditating on that as my apartment leaks or pieces of the ceiling chip off at the entrance or I’m without heat, as I’m sure many tenants have experienced and worse. This is just a small part of a bigger analysis of the oppressed and the oppressor. Us vs. the State. So with this piece, I hope we can talk about that together.
